Vashon Co-Housing is a community of families living in 18 private homes on 12 acres near the town of Vashon. Five of these homes were built by Vashon HouseHold in 1997 and were sold to income-qualified first-time buyers. Though owned outright by their buyers, by covenant these homes can only be resold to people whose incomes do not exceed 80% of the area median income and who have completed VHH’s screening process. The homes must be resold below market value to serve future generations of low income buyers.

Co-Housing homes are clustered to preserve surrounding woods and open space. The community’s design is pedestrian-oriented, with centralized parking and green space around the home sites. Co-Housing communities respond to the needs of contemporary lifestyles by combining the autonomy of private dwellings with the advantages of community living. Each household has a private residence but also shares extensive common facilities such as a dining hall, children’s playrooms, workshops, guest rooms, and laundry facilities.

The five homes built by Vashon HouseHold range in size from two to four bedrooms. They feature open floor plans, wood floors, spacious porches, and beautiful, rustic exteriors.

Affordability
We ensure that the five VHH-built homes at Vashon CoHousing are kept permanently affordable for low-income buyers whenever they are resold.  None of the five homes are currently on the market.
