Anne Atwell, President

Anne has lived on Vashon since 1998. She and her husband, Adam, raised three kids here thanks, in no small part, to the island’s tight-knit, innovative and compassionate community. There’s so much creative talent here that wouldn’t be possible without Vashon Household and other affordable housing advocates. After 30 years of working as a communications and fundraising professional, Anne now dedicates more time to her own art, as well as working with Vashon Household. She and Adam are both avid backpackers, skiers and travelers.

Kim Goforth, Vice President

Kim settled on Vashon in 2001 with her family after attending the University of Washington and living in Seattle for 25 years. She is an Architect, as well as a VHH board member. Aside from architecture, she is passionate about water sports and enjoys rowing and sailing with her husband, Brian. Kim is honored to be able to assist VHH with developing affordable housing on the Island.

Erica Wagner, Secretary

Erica grew up on Vashon and graduated from Vashon High School in 2004. She moved back to the island in 2016 and was able to become a first-time homebuyer in VHH’s Sunflower community land trust, where she currently resides. Erica joined the VHH board as a way to give back to the community and help find creative solutions to the affordable housing problem here in her hometown. Erica enjoys exploring the island’s beautiful trails and beaches, gardening, dancing, and spending time with her fiancé Jesse and their dog. Her professional career has spanned both the medical and financial fields, but she currently works as Executive Assistant and Professional Education Manager for NACM Business Credit Services.

Glynis Delargy, Treasurer

Glynis Delargy has lived on Vashon Island for more than 20 years. She is a former CPA with a long history of working with diverse clients across various industries. A native of New York, Glynis loves living on Vashon and believes that making affordable housing available is essential to preserving the heart and soul of our community.

Christy Clement

Christy is the former president of the VHH Board. She has been on the Board since 2020 and living on Vashon since 2014. She fell in love with this community the minute she stepped off her sailboat for the first time at Dockton, and she’s passionate about ensuring people of all incomes can live here. When not volunteering on the Board, Christy and her husband Jason explore the mountains, work on their house, and come up with fun business ideas.

Gedney Barclay

Gedney is a Northwest native and a Vashon resident since 2019. She and her partner came to Vashon for their shared commitment to the arts and a strong belief in building local community. A longtime advocate for diversity and inclusion, she’s thrilled to support VHH in its mission to ensure people of all income levels and backgrounds have a place to call home. In addition to volunteering on the board for VHH, Gedney can be found playing music, writing, and camping in the Northwest with her partner and their two dogs.

Mike Yates

Mike is a homeowner at Vashon Cohousing. Vashon HouseHold has a relationship with five homes at Vashon Cohousing that ensures permanent affordability of these homes through a recorded covenant so they can only be resold to people whose incomes do not exceed 80% of the area median income – keeping the home affordable in perpetuity. Mike is a talented carpenter, environmentalist, land use expert, farmer, and advocate for affordable housing.

Andrew Shuman

Andrew has lived in Seattle for 30+ years and found constant joy by being a part-time resident of Vashon for half of that! His wife, Sara Dickerman, and two children have constantly enjoyed the vibrant community on the island, where people are always showing up to do good work. After a long tech career, he now spends his time as a coach and advisor. Andrew is energized to help Vashon continue to be a long-term home for people of all backgrounds and is honored to pitch in by being on the VHH Board.

Sue Gardner

Sue migrated from the East Coast to Vashon (via Montana, Portland, and Seattle) in 2001. Her husband, Jim, cut the logs to make lumber to renovate their house while Sue commuted to architectural offices in Seattle. When the chance to work on the island presented itself in 2006, she grabbed it. Sue has been on the VHH Board about 14 years and, when not typing up meeting notes, she can be found in her garden or out bicycling.

Jeff Good

Jeff, an architect and watercolor artist/instructor joined the Vashon Household board in 2019. He and his wife Susan moved to Vashon in 2015, quickly feeling a kindred spirit of a sense of community, emphasis on the arts and of course the beautiful natural surroundings of this island. A desire to give back led to his involvement in VHH, with affordable housing arguably the most critical community challenge we have today. Jeff is a member of the Vashon Island Rowing Club and a signature member of the Northwest Watercolor Society.

Jessica Kennan

Jessica Kennan and her family have owned a home in Roseballen, one of Vashon Household’s land trust communities, since 2015. This is her 6th year on the VHH board. When she is not working to bring more affordable housing to Vashon, she is making cozy things out of repurposed cashmere, hanging out with her teenagers Maire and Finn, walking the dog in Island Center Forest, farming, or playing scrabble with her husband Darragh.

David Van Holde

David is Vashon Household’s fomer Treasurer, a position he held between 2012-2024. He sees the small contributions to VHH in its mission to provide affordable housing to the Vashon community as probably the most important work he does. For relaxation and fun, David likes to do most anything with life partner Annie – including hiking and camping, exploring the world, exercise workouts, cooking, sailing, skiing, and house projects. In his day job, David is Director of US Department of Energy’s Northwest Combined Heat and Power Technical Assistance Partnership and a Senior Energy Systems Engineer with the Washington State University Extension Energy Program. David has worked in the energy industry for more than 28 years, his life’s professional calling.

Shantell Rice

Shantell moved to Vashon Island from Denver, Colorado with her family in the summer of 2018. She is an affordable housing development consultant with her own practice. Shantell believes in building community through the development of equitable, sustainable and affordable housing.

Kari Dohn Decker

Kari is a native Washingtonian who grew up boating as a young girl around the Puget Sound and skiing and hiking in the Cascades. She’s had a home on Vashon since 2005 and is now raising her teenage son on the island with her husband, John, and their two dogs. A “recovering lawyer” and longtime senior policy advisor turned social impact specialist, Kari is excited to be part of Vashon Household’s mission to create affordable housing and greater economic opportunity on the beloved island she calls home.

Karin Nelson

Karin was raised on Vashon and graduated from Vashon High in 1982. Her father was a long-time resident in the JG Commons apartments, and in 2022 she was able to purchase her home in Roseballen, VHH community land trust. Her family has a deep appreciation for VHH, and she is excited to join the board and find ways to give back. Karin is the owner of an island business, Becalm, where she works as an acupuncturist. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, gardening, hiking, and kayaking around Vashon, and spending time with friends and family.
