About Us

OUR STORY

Vashon HouseHold provides access to quality, affordable housing opportunities for low income and moderate income Islanders in order to preserve and foster the economic and cultural diversity of the community.

In 1989, a small group of community volunteers created Vashon HouseHold, which became a non-profit organization in 1990.

Housing costs were beginning to skyrocket and these volunteers believed it was essential to create and maintain affordable housing on the island.

Affordable housing was, and is, seen as the means to maintain the broad cultural and economic diversity that makes Vashon-Maury Island unique.
